Good-bye, Inzi

Minhaj Ahmed, Uttara, Dhaka
Inzamam-Ul-Haq, one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket, said good-bye to ODI cricket during Pakistan's last one day game against Zimbabwe in the World Cup. His decision came after the team's loss to Ireland which threw Pakistan out of the tournament. To the cricket lovers, it was really sad to see the departure of Inzamam in this way. He deserved a better way to say good-bye to the game. He announced that his last game would be against Zimbabwe. We all know how lethal Inzamam was as a batsman. He played shots all round the wicket, particularly strong off his legs, and unleashed fierce pulls and lofted drives. Who can forget the blistering innings Inzamam played in the 1992 World Cup semi-final against the Kiwis? Inzi always keeps his cool in a crisis and succeeded Javed Miandad as Pakistan's premier batsman, but his hapless running between the wickets was most dangerous for his partners.

His departure from the game will surely affect the Pakistan team.
