Complacency in cricket

Habibul Bashar seems to be floating on complacency after the Bangladesh team defeated two poorly rated teams recently in the home ground. I think some of our club teams also could beat those teams easily considering their standard. So far the international standard is concerned, those two teams do not come anywhere near the cricket playing countries of the world. Therefore, why so much boasting and beating of own drum by the Bangladesh captain? If we analyse the individual performances of our players in the recent games, save and except a few of our spinners, no creditable performance worth mentioning could be noticed. Excepting only one, none of our batsman could score a century against such low rated weak teams. Even our captain's performance was disastrous and totally disappointing. He could not lead the team from the front; even against the weakest team such as Scotland his score was only a few odd runs, a performance of which he should be ashamed!

Captaincy matters only after he primarily performs as a batsman. There are other promising players in the national league who are consistently doing well and, therefore, justifiably deserve a place in the national team in place of the non-performers.

We should really be able to assess our performance a little more accurately.
