Police recovered the body of a woman from her home in West Kalachandpur area of Dhaka’s Gulshan early yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Sadia Rahman Mim, 27, who hailed from Dhanbari upazila of Tangail and worked at a beauty parlour, police said.

The body was found throat-slit and also bore multiple injuries from sharp weapons on different parts, police said.

Police recovered the body around 12:15am from the first floor of the house and later sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy, said Md Maruf Hasan, a sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station.

Quoting family, SI Maruf said that Mim’s marriage ended in separation around eight months ago, and she had been sharing her flat in the Kalachandpur house with another woman named Nusrat. Nusrat reportedly was in her village home in Shariatpur at the time of the incident.

Mim last spoke with her sister, Sadia Akter, on Friday. Later, after Sadia failed repeatedly to contact Mim as her phone was found switched off, she went to the house yesterday afternoon. Finding it locked from outside, she broke open the lock and discovered Mim’s lifeless body inside, before informing police, the SI added.
