BNP deferred their public meeting upon request of the police, the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir says.

BNP deferred their public meeting upon request of the police, the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said today.

“The police requested us to hold our meeting at Suhrawardy Udyan on September 29 because it was a public holiday,” he said at a press briefing.

“We took preparations in this regard. Now they are saying that there is another programme of the 14-party alliance in Gulistan,” he added.

However, on the note on whether how BNP is planning to hold their rally now, BNP leader Fakhrul told journalists that a decision will be drawn later.

He said, the programme will be arranged to inform the public about the party’s policy-level decisions and announce future political programmes.

Fakhrul denied to comment on whether leaders of other political parties – especially those engaged to forge a greater unity against government – will be invited.
