Tk 4 lakh stolen from High Court Mazar

A good amount of money was stolen from the donation boxes of High Court Mazar (shrine) in Dhaka early today.

The burglary occurred between last night and early hours of today, Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station, told The Daily Star this afternoon.

The unknown thief broke 11 donation boxes kept inside the High Court Mazar and a mosque adjacent to the mazar, and took away the money, approximately Tk 4-5 lakh, which followers had donated as funds, he said.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera showed a man taking away the money from the boxes, said the OC, adding that they are investigating the footage to identify the man.

However, no case was filed in this connection till filing of the report.
