500 shanties gutted in Korail slum fire

At least 500 shanties were gutted in the fire that broke out at Korail slum in Mohakhali area of Dhaka last night.
“The fire broke out around 2:50am inside Korail-Boubajar slum,” said an official of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters.

On information, 18 firefighting units rushed to the scene and brought the fire under control around 7:15 am, the officer added.
On December 4 last year, at least 500 shanties were destroyed in another fire inside the same slum.
