- Awami League chief Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at a 23rd founding anniversary programme at Ramna Green says the election has proved that Bengalis will live as Bangalis for eternity. He also says no one has the right to change the 6-point programme other than 7 crore Bangalis.
- The first meeting of Awami League Parliamentary Party of national and provincial level in Dhaka, set February 14 the date for the first post general election National Assembly session after waiting for a reasonable amount of time. The meeting of East Pakistan Awami League’s Working Committee also calls February 14 to consider contemporary political and economical problems and set duty of Awami League, especially for Awami League Parliamentary Party.
- Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui, president of East Pakistan Chhatra League, Shahjahan Siraj, general secretary, ASM Abdur Rab, vice-president of DAKSU and general secretary Abdul Kuddus Makhon in a joint statement express deep concern and high condemnation over the Indian aircraft hijack incident. They also say it is a conspiracy to impede the peaceful power handover.
