  • Awami League chief Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman places floral wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar at 12:45am. During a speech he calls people to be prepared. He says the conspiracy that started in ’52 is still on and it can get more severe.
  • Supporting Bhutto’s policy in the stand of governance policy, former president Ayub Khan tells some foreign experts that the country is going through a critical phase. Any wrong step will impair the nation. He says Bhutto made some mistake in the past but he is realising the situation now.
  • President Yahya Khan passes an act allowing members to resign from own post prior to National or Provincial Assembly sessions. A statement reads, the act would be called ‘1971 Legal Assembly (amended) Order (President’s first order in 1971). By amending the 1970 Legal Assembly Act, LFO’s 11th clause would add the following: If a person elected to be member wants to resign prior to first session of assembly, s/he has to give self-written notice to the commissioner.
