Ferdous has won the heart on both sides of the border with his charm, in the film "Hotath Brishti". He has won the National Film Award four times. Recently, he brought his magic back to the silver screen with his brilliant performance in "Beauty Circus". In a candid conversation with The Daily Star, he shared his memories of Durga Puja, and recent ventures.

How are you spending Durga Puja?

I have been busy during the festival. I did few photoshoots for the Puja. I also went to Banani Puja mandap – It is the biggest festival for the Hindu religion just like our Eid. That is why I also enjoy during Puja. I also received a few Panjabis, as a gift.

Are you missing the Puja in Kolkata?

I am missing the festivity of Kolkata during Durga Puja. I miss my friends there. There was a time, I used to work in Tollywood films a lot, back in those days. I also stayed there a few times, and I really miss going to Kolkata now -- I used to perform during those times as well. The celebration of Durga Puja is very colorful there. Last year, I went to Chittagong to celebrate Puja, and loved that as well.

When the shooting of your next film will start?

I will start the shooting of the film "Ahare Jibon" directed by Chotku Ahmed, on October 12. The story is based on a person who recently got back from
Italy, during the Covid-19 pandemic. I will be sharing screen with Purnima in this film.

At the beginning of your career, you paired up with Purnima in few films. Do you think the Dhallywood industry was able to utilize the on-screen chemistry of you and Purnima properly?

No, I don't think that and it makes me sad. She is a very good friend of mine, and we had great chemistry. It is true that Dhallywood could not utilise us. If they could utilise our chemistry properly, then I think many good films would be produced.
