Project Odhora: Hult Prize at University of Chittagong hosts workshop on menstrual health
On November 4, a workshop on women's menstrual health was organised by the Hult Prize at University of Chittagong (HPCU) under the "Project Odhora" initiative. This community-driven initiative aimed at breaking the stigma surrounding women's menstrual health, aligning with SDG Goals 3 (Good Health & Well-being) and 4 (Quality Education). The Workshop took place at Fateyabad Shoilabala City Corporation High School.
At the event, the Campus Director of HPCU 25/26 tenure Khaled Mahmud Onik, Chief of Staff Kazi Muhaiminul Islam Munaj, and Chief Strategist Karin Saffana were present. The project was led by Nishat Tahsin Chowdhury and Tanjif Hasan, along with the community engagement team.
The workshop aimed to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for students and teachers to discuss menstruation confidently and compassionately. The interactive session covered topics like understanding what menstruation is, how the menstrual cycle begins, how blood flow occurs, and self-care and hygiene during menstruation. Discussions also took place on safe practices for maintaining menstrual health.
At the end of the session, a quiz competition was held, and participants received gift packs. A message was delivered with the gift packs that read, "Women's menstrual health is not a taboo or shame - it's a natural part of their body and life cycle. It deserves understanding, care, and respect, because - Our Body, Our Care - Every Cycle Matters."
