Mitsui & Co. Asia Pacific signs strategic partnership with ACI Logistics (Shwapno)

Mitsui & Co., Ltd. has agreed to provide a foreign currency-denominated convertible loan to ACI Logistics Limited, marking a strategic partnership aimed at supporting the expansion of the Shwapno retail chain.

The investment will be executed through Mitsui’s Singapore-based subsidiary, Mitsui & Co. (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd., under a structured convertible loan facility, subject to regulatory approvals, according to a press release.

ACI Logistics Limited, a subsidiary of ACI PLC, operates “Shwapno,” described as the largest grocery retail chain in Bangladesh with more than 836 stores nationwide.

The signing ceremony was held on February 25, 2026, at ACI Centre. Among those present were ACI PLC Chairman Anis Ud Dowla, Managing Director Arif Dowla, Managing Director of ACIL Sabbir Hasan Nasir, and Kazuhide Nakajo, Chief Operating Officer of the Consumer-Centric Business Development Unit at Mitsui & Co. (Asia Pacific) Pte. Ltd., along with other senior representatives.

The companies said the partnership will combine Mitsui’s capital support, global sourcing capabilities and technical expertise with Shwapno’s retail operations. The collaboration is expected to focus on operational efficiency, governance practices, supply chain optimisation and long-term growth in Bangladesh’s modern retail sector.
