Bad weather halts Paturia-Daulatdia, Shimulia-Kathalbari ferry services

Launch and ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia and Shimulia-Kathalbari routes in the Padma river remained suspended due to bad weather this afternoon.
The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) suspended the services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route around 5:30pm, Shaikh Mohammed Salim Reza, deputy director of BIWTA and port officer of Aricha, told The Daily Star.
A total of 32 launches and 16 ferries have been stranded in the river due to the bad weather.
Meanwhile, the services on the Shimulia-Kathalbari route remain halted since 6:30pm, Mohammad Mohiuddin, port officer of Shmulia ferry ghat said.
